“What would my mum and dad want to know?”
I like to joke that NeuroPhysio Scotland exists because I wasn’t good enough to be a professional footballer. That childhood dream gave way to a more mature fascination with the impact that I saw physiotherapy have on people’s quality of life. I saw my own mum’s physical and cognitive decline caused by Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, and the benefits & freedom she enjoyed from maintaining physical activity.
My wife Cassie and I founded NeuroPhysio Scotland over 10 years ago now, with the vision to empower every individual to optimise the management of their condition. We aim to provide our service in as many parts of Scotland as we can, to invest in and promote the use of rehabilitation technology that improves quality of life, and to build a sense of community through peer support, social interaction and increased engagement in local communities. I’m very glad I’m not working away on a football pitch; I think being a neurophysio is a much better fit. May you find the support, resilience and strength you need to deal with whatever challenges you are facing.

I really thrive on observing people acknowledge their own improvements over time and see positive changes in their functional abilities however small. You get great satisfaction working someone hard to see them then achieve something they didn’t think they could or had only ever dreamed about. You get such a buzz from that.

I find my job extremely rewarding because when someone achieves their goal, no matter how small that may appear, it means the world to them and to be a part of that is the type of job satisfaction I love.

I like working for Kenny as I love his vision/passion/level of care for our patients. It feels like there are no barriers from your manager in the way of truly helping people to maximise their potential. We see a variety of conditions and problems so that keeps the job very interesting and challenging (in a good way).
